Missing man found in Adair County

From Adair county Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management

Sunday, December 29, 2024 at approximately 3:08pm, Adair County E-911 received a call from a resident in the Breeding Community, on Pelston Cemetery Road, about an abandoned vehicle stuck in a field on their property.

Adair County Sheriff's Office dispatched the information and responded. Upon further investigation it was determined that that a 74 year-old-man was missing from the vehicle.

Adair County emergency responders, along with assistance from Taylor County and Cumberland County, were dispatched out and searched for several hours, finally locating a male laying in a field.

The male, identified as 74 year old Thomas Burden of Illinois, was treated on the scene and transported by Adair County EMS to TJ Health Columbia to get checked out and later transported to T.J. Sampson in Glasgow.

A family member was contacted in Illinois to make arrangements to get him safely back home.

Adair County Sheriff's Office would like to thank all those involved in Mr. Burden's safe recovery.

Brandon Hitch - Adair County Sheriff's Office.
