Basketball: Indians defeat Royals, 90-54 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Friday, December 27, 2024, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Mason County Royals 90-54 in first round play in the Mason County Invitational Tournament. The Indians led by 7 at the half, but were able to expand the lead throughout the second half, running up to the 36 point final margin. The Indians were led in scoring by Connor Loy, who set a career high with 42 points while shooting 17-22 from the floor and 2-3 from distance. Loy repeatedly carved up the Royals defense, driving to the basket repeatedly for a lay up. The Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team returns to tournament action at 12:30pmET on Saturday, December 28, 2024, to face a tough Campbell County Camels basketball team in round 2 of the Mason County Invitational Tournament at the Mason County Fieldhouse, 1320 U.S. Hwy 68, Maysville, KY. The Camels arrive at this game after a 77-58 win over WEB DuBois. They previously defeated Newport 56-52, who the Indians lost to earlier this season. The Camels are led by hot-shot Freshman Austin Davie, who led them in scoring in a recent win against Johnson Central and has scored in double figures in every one of their games this season. The Camels like high scoring games. They are 6-0 when they score at least 75 points, and 3-2 when they don't. The Indians may look to slow the game down and make Campbell County spend a lot of time on defense. This story was posted on 2024-12-28 11:55:51
