LWC President Luckey receives prestigious regional honor Lindsey Wilson College President William T. Luckey Jr. was honored on Monday by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Luckey received this year's James T. Rogers Distinguished Leadership Award from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The James T. Rogers Distinguished Leadership Award is the highest public recognition given by the commission and is reserved for individuals whose service to SACSCOC is truly distinctive. Luckey, who is the longest-serving college or university president in Kentucky higher education, was presented the prestigious honor at SACSCOC's annual meeting. "Serving as president of Lindsey Wilson College is the greatest honor of my professional life," said Luckey. "But this award also means a great deal to me because for more than two decades I have also worked to support and strengthen postsecondary education throughout our region." Luckey, who has been Lindsey Wilson president since 1998, has been a member of 28 SACSCOC visits, chairing 14 of them. He has also served in various leadership roles, including as a member of the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. The mission of SACSCOC is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions. An institutional accreditor for quality assurance in higher education, SACSCOC accredits institutions in 11 Southern states that award associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees, including those offered via distance and correspondence education, and direct assessment within these institutions.
