Book Fair one of most successful ever

According to co-sponsor Mike Watson, The 2024 book fair was one of the most successful in the 18 years he and Mayor Pam Hoots have been hosting.

Of the two dozen plus vendors, all were pleased with the turnout and customers totaled more than 300 according to the best guesstimates.

There were several vendors new to the fair as well as numerous returning authors and sellers. Several new books were offered as well as select out-of-print offerings.


Authors at the event included: Rick Lee, Russell Lunsford, Metcalfe County Historical Society, Pam Hoots, Tim Roy, Lanny Tucker, Michael C. Watson, Barbara Wright, Green County Genealogical Society, Samantha Sinclair, Lanterns & Tombstones Tours, Mary Donna Foley, Dick Scholl, Rebecca Williams, Adair County Arts Council, Christopher Rowe, Phillip W. Coffey, Pam Spires, Susan Eoff, Ritchie Hale, JB Tillotson, Serena Corbin, Doug Peterson, Jane Lampton Chapter DAR, Adair County Genealogical Society, Adair Heritage Association.

Keysha Tucker, at left, of Knifley brought all of the keepsakes and some of the books by author Janice Holt Giles to the 2024 Book Fair. She manages the historic log cabin that the Giles couple built and wrote many novels from.

Metcalfe County Historical Society at Book Fair

Kay Harbison was among writers and genealogists at the 2024 Adair County Book Fair. She is president of the Metcalfe County Historical Society and brought samples of their extensive collection.

Christopher Rowe and his Mom Rita at Book Fair

Christopher Rowe, author of Science Fiction and Fantasy, was joined by his mother Rita Rich Yates at the 2024 Adair County Book Fair. Seven of his novels have been published and he has two more under contract. He has been a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, Neukom Institute, and Theodore Sturgeon Awards. His stories have been frequently reprinted, translated into a half-dozen languages around the world, and praised by the New York Times Book Review. His short fiction was collected in Telling the Map from Small Beer Press.

You can sit at the writer's and painter's table

Henry and Janice Holt Giles are pictured at their creating table in the book they wrote together, Around Our House. If you'd like to visit this table, it is on loan from the family at the Adair History and Genealogy Center beside the Library on Greensburg Street in Columbia.
