Swimming: Records Fall for LWC women in Ohio Gambier, OH - Five school records fell inside the James A. Steen Aquatic Center on Thursday evening, November 22, 2024, as the Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team ranks sixth following day one of the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College. The first highlight of the day came in the morning's preliminary session where Nathalie Medina topped Emily Wood's seven-year-old school record by 11 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle. Her mark of 5:04.05, later followed by finals' time of 5:04.11 and fifth-place finish, checked in as an NAIA provisional cut. The Blue Raiders' strong morning continued in the 50-yard freestyle, as Maaike Broersma became the first female swimmer in Lindsey Wilson history to finish under 23 seconds in the event - 22.92. She maintained her dominance in the finals, hitting the wall first with an "A"-cut time of 23.07. Not far behind, her teammate Kirsten de Goede also made waves in the 50-freestyle by placing third and logging a time of 23.19. The duo now holds the program's top-three quickest times in the 50-yard freestyle. Natalia Gorska, who finished 17th overall in the 50-yard sprint, notched a provisional time of 24.30. In the evening session, de Goede swam the "B"-final of the 200-yard individual medley, garnering first in the heat and 11th overall with a "A"-cut and school-record time of 2:05.51. Emma Verkuijl competed in the "C"-final and recorded a provisional time of 2:13.84. Both of the Blue Raiders' "A" relay teams produced school-record performances. First, in the 200-yard freestyle, de Goede, Gorska, Broersma, and Hannah Woyscheszik posted a 1:33.85. Then, Medina, Gorska, Broersma, and Sara Motyl combined for a 3:45.88 in the 400-yard medley.
