Louise Grider Brummett, 80, Cumberland County, KY

Louise Grider Brummett age 80 years, 7 months, and 10 days, from the Amandaville Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

She was born in Burkesville, Kentucky, to the late Homer and Ettie Lee (Davidson) Grider. At age 16 she developed polio and became wheelchair bound. For 64 years she didn't let that hold her back. She was a wonderful seamstress, making her own wedding dress. She also did beautiful needle point and was an artist.


She married the love of her life George Henry "Bobby" Brummett on Saturday, May 24th 1986. They moved to Louisville, Kentucky until Bobby retired, when they returned to Burkesville, Kentucky.

Kentucky Magazine did an article on Louise and Bobby about their amazing love story. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Grider, James Grider, JB Grider, Shellie Grider, Yule Grider, and Allen William Grider, brothers-in-law, Randy Gibson, Johnny M. Kearns, and Porter McCoy, sisters-in-law, Nadine Grider, Dorothy Grider, and Mary Elizabeth Grider.

Louise is survived by her sisters, Dottie Gibson, Margaret "Cricket" McCoy, both of Burkesville, Kentucky, Kathleen Kearns of Anderson, Indiana, Brothers, Albert (& Dimple) Grider of Columbia, Kentucky, Jessie (& Brenda) Grider Sr. of Burkesville, Kentucky, special friend, Cindy (& Brian) Murley of Breeding, Kentucky, special niece, Donna (& Nick) Abney of Burkesville, Kentucky of Burkesville, Kentucky, several nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10amCT in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville with Bro. Terry Shelley officiating. The family will receive friends after 2 Friday until the funeral hour on Saturday. Burial will be the Grider Family Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky
