Indians head to Union County for round 2 tonight By Trey Stephens, Columbia Magazine Staff Writer The Adair County (10-1) Indians will travel to Union County (9-2) for the 2nd round of the Class 3A UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals tonight. The Indians are coming off their 41-0 win over McLean County to face the Braves who come off a 45-16 win over Glasgow. In that contest, Union County rushed for over 300 yards, a majority coming from 3A district one player of the year Jarren Johnson. Johnson himself ran for 241 yards and 5 touchdowns, while also throwing 4 passes for 82 yards. The Indians containing or slowing down Johnson will be key to their chances of winning this football game, Johnson has been held under 100 yards rushing just twice all season, and Union County lost both of those games, their only two losses on the season. The Indians will also look to keep their deep passing game going, which has paid dividends as of late and could be useful against a Braves Defense that has given up deep passes at points during this season. This will undoubtedly be a tough challenge for the Indians, per RPI rankings, this is the 2nd best team the Indians have played all season, and if Adair County manages to come away with the victory they will have a rematch with the winner of Hart County and Franklin-Simpson. Everyone please make the trip, come cheer on your Indians in Morganfield on tonight! This story was posted on 2024-11-15 09:06:28
