CPD: Columbia man charged with possession, trafficking

Columbia Police Department

The Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Heskamp Street on Wednesday night, November 13, 2024. After making contact with the vehicle operator, subject was found to have a suspended license.

Party gave consent to search car and officers located suspected narcotics as well as paraphernalia within vehicle. The subject was taken into custody.


John Thompson, 43, of Columbia, has been charged with multiple traffic offenses as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine, and trafficking in a controlled substance drug unspecified.

Officer Trent Williams was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officers with Columbia Police and The Adair Sheriff's Office, as well as K9 Unit Cally.
