Shot - Stabbed - Hanged - and More a success

By Mike Watson

Dave Thomas and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came out on the evening of October 25 to attend the second -- we hope of many -- downtown walking tours.

This one, "Shot - Stabbed - Hanged - and More on the Columbia Public Square," seems to have been a success. Our "people counters" who try to determine the turnout at such events had a difficult time deciding how many came out, but we have concluded that between 90 and 100 were in attendance.

We could not have pulled this off without many who encouraged us, those who helped in gathering information, and our behind-the-scenes wives--Amy and Renea! Also, a big thank you to Ricky Bledsoe for allowing us the use of the mobile speaker system.

Any donations that came in will be applied toward projects of the Adair County Genealogical Society, one of the sponsors of many historic events in the town and county.

Again, Thanks! Mike and Dave

Dave Thomas wrapped up with a story he said was among the most requested for the 2024 "Shot - Stabbed - Hanged - and More on the Columbia Public Square" event. That was the story of the Fitzpatrick Brothers hanging which can be read in the archives of Columbia Magazine. Any donations that came in will be applied toward projects of the Adair County Genealogical Society, one of the sponsors of many historic events in the town and county.
