Adair County at KDLA Archives Institute By Mike Watson The Kentucky Archives Institute, held at Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives in Frankfort, was held on Friday, October 18, 2024. For more than thirty-five years the staff at KDLA have hosted an institute where attendees may learn about the holdings of the Archives, how to use these valuable resources in research and more. The 2024 program was a little different as one of the sessions concentrated on how to deal with wet documents and other items--how to immediately salvage, how to store, and how to prepare for professional reclamation if called for. These photos are from this session and depict various teams working to triage photos, newspaper items, and much more. Photos include from Adair County, Annita Dial and Mike Watson from the Adair Genealogy & History Research Center, and friend of the Research Center Ann J. Pennington of Danville who has deep roots in Adair County. Both Ann Pennington and Mike Watson are currently serving on the Board of the Kentucky Friends of the Archives, Frankfort, KY. Thanks for the photographs goes to the KDLA staff photographer. This story was posted on 2024-10-29 11:41:53
