4-H Country Ham Auction is November 14, 2024

By Tony Rose
Adair County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development

There will be 36 4-H youth Country Hams and 3 Cloverbud youth Country Hams for this year's in-person 4-H Country Ham Auction. We are looking for people or businesses that would be interested in bidding on and purchasing the ham gift baskets at this year's auction. If you are interested in potentially attending as a buyer, contact Tony Rose at 270-384-2317 or by email at trose@uky.edu.

The Adair County 4-H Program will be holding its 13th 4-H Country Ham Auction starting at 5:30pmCT on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service located at 409 Fairground Street.

This year we have 36 4-H Youth and 3 Cloverbuds who will be auctioning off their hams. Each youth will create a ham gift basket that will be auctioned off along with the ham they produced as part of their 4-H Country Ham project.

Proceeds from the ham auction will be divided as follows:
  • 90 percent of the total proceeds will be equally divided between the youth who auction off hams.

  • 10 percent of the total proceeds will go to a Country Ham scholarship. Each year a graduating senior who participates in the ham project may apply. Up to three $300.00 scholarships will be awarded.
We hope you will help support our local 4-H youth by participating in our 13th 4-H Country Ham auction. Just show up just before 5:30 p.m. on November 14 to participate. Rumor has it that the hams are very tasty this year, so don't miss out!
