Healthcare club at ACHS in the spotlight By Jade Waggener ACHS senior reporter for Columbia Magazine Jennifer Carter, HOSA sponsor at ACHS for the last 9 years, says, "HOSA provides opportunities for students to develop, practice, and refine their technical, leadership, and teamwork skills to achieve a seamless transition from education to a health care career. This club is targeted towards students interested in the health care field. As a club we tour UK outreach center and cadaver lab, attend HOT expo (career fair) to allow students to see various career options. Students can also compete at state HOSA competition in Louisville if they place top 3 they can compete at the National level. Adair County High School Senior, Arraya Phelps, said, "Ive been in the HOSA club for 2 years, in those 2 years I've done a lot, such as last year, I went as far as internationals. "HOSA has been a great opportunity for me to open up and indulge in my career goals. It's an amazing club that I am proud to be apart of. HOSA offers multiple activities and gives numerous opportunities for involvement. "Anyone interested in healthcare would love the club. We go on fun field trips, get to compete, and overall feel like we're involved in something. It's an amusing and educational experience that provides amazing opportunities that I am grateful for."
