New residents welcomed at Clifty Creek Farm

By Donna Rieder

Clifty Creek Farm has a new addition! Meri is a very pregnant KuneKune pig. KuneKune pigs come from New Zealand, where they've lived in the huts of the Maori aboriginal peoples for generations, and as such are very friendly and people oriented.

They're very clean animals, and pick one corner in the pasture to do their business. They are the smallest breed of pig and have a short, soft snout, so they don't root like other pigs; they're a pasture pig and they eat grass.

Meri is very sweet, but talk about a face only a mother could love!
