Jason Harmon sends information on Orphan Brigade's John Green

By Jason Harmon

Cyrus requested more info on John Green. I found a few scraps.

John Williams Green B. 1841 D. 1920

The 1850 Census of Kentucky shows him as a resident of Henderson County. His father is Hector Green, County Surveyor. An elderly man is also living in the home, most likely his grandfather, John Green and he is the justice of the peace. The Filson Club also has letters written to Hector Green from John Green on the eve of the Civil War.

He married Miss Annie Amis/Ames after the war in Hodgenville, KY. John and Annie had 2 children that I could find, Marion and Elizabeth Green. He was a stock broker in Louisville. He was still working at the age of 78 according to the 1920 census. He lived in Louisville after the Civil War on South 3rd Street and usually kept 2-3 servants.

Here is a link to a photo and tombstone of John Williams Green.Click here for a photo and tombstone of John Williams Green
