ACSO: Man arrested for sex offender registry violations

From Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

A joint investigation between the Columbia Police Department, Kentucky Probation and Parole and the Adair County Sheriff's office has resulted in the arrest of a Columbia man on Kentucky Sex Offender Registration Violations.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman and Columbia Police Sgt. Evan Burton obtained warrants of arrest for a man who had been seen hanging around the Columbia City Park/Splashpad and the Adair County Jim Blair Center playground on at least 6 different occasions. Each one of these incidents is a violation of Kentucky Sex Offender Playground restrictions.

Further investigation determined that the man was not residing at his registered address, which is a felony violation of the Sex Offender Registry.

Jordan Hilty, 22, of Columbia, was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Sheriff Brockman and Sgt. Evan Burton on charges of:
  • Registered sex offender public playground restriction. 1 count
  • Registered sex offender pool/splash pad restriction. 4 counts
  • Registered sex offender residence violation
  • Failure to comply with sex offender registration.
The investigation is ongoing with more charges pending from KY Probation and Parole Officer Bryan Hogan.
