Gilbert Ray Cowan, 76, Columbia, KY (1947-2024) Gilbert Ray Cowan of Columbia passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Greenhill Nursing and Rehab Center in Greensburg. He was 76 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Doug Popplewell and Bro. Elbert Hadley officiating. Burial will follow in the Fudge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday after 10amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born on July 20, 1947, in Columbia, KY to the late Clem and Ethel Burton Cowan. He was also preceded in death by several siblings. Mr. Cowan was a member of the Hadley Community Church and attended the Pleasant Hill Church. He enjoyed farming, tinkering with old tractors and older ford trucks, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Branham Cowan of Columbia, KY; two children Kavin Cowan (Nena) of Florida and Gina Douget of Mississippi; a stepson Bobby Bennett of Columbia, KY; two grandchildren Nathan Bennett of Russell Springs and Delany Bennett of Maine; a brother Kenneth Cowan (Marlene) of Columbia, KY and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Johnny Carter, Paul Reynolds, Billy Cowan, Ronnie Cowan, Kenzie Rowe, Brian Keith Cowan, and Jason Cowan. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
