Congratulations to Sgt. Major Dan Kermeen Pam Kermeen of Columbia writes, "We would like to announce the promotion of our son Daniel Kermeen to Sgt. Major on April 15, 2024 in Okinawa, Japan." Pam says that after Dan graduated from Adair County High School, he "went to work at IMO and desperately wanted full-time with them. They kept putting him off so he went to Louisville and enlisted with the Marines. IMO offered him full-time the next day! The recruiter came to the house the day after Christmas in 2006 and the rest is history." Kermeen began his military career in late 2006 at Parris Island, South Carolina, and has steadily gained experience and responsibility from there, at bases in Missouri, Haiti, Korea, and Japan. In late 2023 First Sergeant Kermeen assumed the duties of Company First Sergeant for Truck Company, and he was soon after selected for promotion to Sergeant Major. In April 2024 he was promoted to his current rank and is set to assume the duties as Squadron Sergeant Major for Marine Air Support Squadron 2 in May 2024. Sergeant Major Kermeen's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with (2) gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with (3) gold stars, and the Good Conduct Medal with (4) bronze stars. Beyond his military service, Sergeant Major Kermeen finds strength and support in his family. He is married to Tavon Kermeen, and together they have two children, Dyllon and Kaileigh.
