Baseball travels to Talladega for 3-game series The Lindsey Wilson baseball team travels to Talladega for a three-game series. The two teams open the series with a doubleheader beginning at 11:30amCT Thursday and close out the series on Friday at NoonCT. Lindsey Wilson (4-4) enters play after going 2-2 at Faulkner last weekend. The Blue Raiders dropped the first two games 8-1 and 6-2 before closing out the series winning 6-2 and 17-5. Chance Stayton leads the team in batting average (.348) and in RBIs with seven. Sam Gage is batting .346 and has an on-base percentage of .452. On the mound, Cohen Achen has a .084 earned run average allowing just one earned run in 10-2/3 innings. Through two starts Achen has also struck out 19. Jonathan Phipps has struck out 13 batters this season in 11 innings pitched. The Tornadoes are 2-6 this season and enter play after defeating Columbus State 10-3 on Tuesday. Talladega had four players record two hits in the victory while Armando Jackson and Isaac Guzman each drove in a pair of runs. The Tornadoes have two players batting over .400 led by Victor Rivera who is batting .429. Miguel Oropeza has recorded a team-high nine RBIs. On the mound, Talladega has an ERA of 8.38 in 58 innings allowing 67 hits, 54 earned runs and striking out 51. Talladega is 2-1 all-time against Lindsey Wilson.
