With inexperience comes learning By Macy Welsh, student writer LWC Bonner Scholar Senior Intern Metcalfe County Alumni '21 Sitting on the sideline he said, "I felt hopeless, there's nothing I could do". With inexperience comes learning. One afternoon last year, William Duncan and the Lindsey Wilson Baseball team competed in an important baseball series right before playing in Bowling Green, Ky. Duncan sat in the dugout at the last game watching as the team threw away the win. Down to the wire. The Blue Raiders gave the game away. He sat watching, and grieving as the game slipped through their fingertips. Duncan pitched the game before coming in as a reliever for Cohen Achen. As well as pitching to a few more batters prior, picking up a Strike-out. Sitting on the sideline he said, "I felt hopeless, there's nothing I could do". Despite the talent in the Lindsey Wilson bull pen, the coaching staff made the decision to pitch the ACE and the best relievers the first game, leaving inexperienced arms to finish the series. With inexperience comes learning. In this instance it was learning that you win together, and you lose together as a team. This year, Duncan believes that there has been growth and they are looking forward to a phenomenal season on the diamond at Egnaw Park. This story was posted on 2024-02-08 20:32:11
