Bessie Dix, 80, Russell County, KY (1943-2024) Bessie Catharine Jackson Dix, of Jamestown, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at her granddaughter's home. She was 80 years of age. Bessie was a homemaker that loved taking care of her family. She was also a former cook at the Russell County Jail. She was the type of person who turned into a "Grandma" to everyone she met. She was loved immensely and will be missed by all her family. Born February 2, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Charles Benthal and Mary Ellen Hogan Jackson. Survivors include a son, James Richard Dix, Jr. (and Debra Lawhorn); five daughters, Deborah (and Michael) Mangan of Westminster, Maryland, Karen Gouran (and Robert Dalton) of Magnolia, Kentucky, Sandra Dix, of Jamestown, Tamera (and Mitchell) Pyles, of Russell Springs, and Lara (and Michael) Keith, of Russell Springs; a brother, Ronald Jackson, of Easley, South Carolina; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Dix, Sr., who passed away October 20, 2010; a son, Thomas Michael Dix; and four brothers, Lawrence Jackson, Stephen Jackson, James Leroy Jackson, and Kenneth Jackson. Funeral services will be at 4pmCT Saturday, February 3, 2024. Visitation for the public will be from 11 until the time of services. This story was posted on 2024-02-01 22:47:07
