Basketball: LWC men defeat Georgetown in conference opener Georgetown, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team will be coming home with a victory after defeating No. 3 Georgetown College 91-87 on Thursday evening. The last time the Blue Raiders won against a top-five ranked team was on January 27, 2018 also against Georgetown. At the half, Lindsey Wilson led with a score of 44-42. For the Blue Raiders, Kenyata Carbon and Barrett Burchyett let in points with 12 apiece, while Lucas Ribeiro had four rebounds. Lindsey Wilson had a dominant start to the half, shooting for 55.2% from the field, 66.7% from the free throw line, and 42.9% in three point shots. The Tigers trailed for most of the first half, but made up a lot of points near the end of the half. Kyran Jones led in points with 12, as well as in rebounds with four along with Cam Brooks-Harris. Jaquay Wales led in assists and steals, with three and two of each. The Tigers shot 48.4% from the field, and 61.1% from the free throw line. The second half concluded with a tight finish between the two teams, with Lindsey Wilson ultimately coming out on top, while maintaining their lead throughout the entire half. The Blue Raiders improved their shooting to 65.2% in the second half, with Carbon adding 15 points and solidifying the victory with a layup in the last 10 seconds of the match. The Tigers put up a strong effort, improving their three-point percentage, but falling the free throws and shots from the field. Jabrion Spikes ended the match with 19 points overall, Wales added one more assist and Jones added three more rebounds. The Blue Raiders will face No. 11 Freed-Hardeman at 7:30pmCT next Thursday, January 18, at Biggers Sports Center. The game will be broadcasted live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
