Basketball: LWC Men 105-93 over Clinton

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team wrapped up non-conference play with a 105-93 victory over Clinton College Sunday at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday when they travel to No. 3 Georgetown for their Mid-South Conference opener at 6:30pmCT.

Sunday marked the second time this season the Blue Raiders (8-6) scored over 100 points. Lindsey Wilson had three players score 20 or more points in a game for the first time since February 8, 2020. The Blue Raiders recorded 60 rebounds for the second time this season.


Johrdon Mumford recorded a double-double scoring a career-high 27 points while matching a season-high in rebounds with 11. Mumford shot 8-of-12 from the field and connected on all 10 of his attempts from the charity stripe. Kenyata Carbon scored 20 points on 4-of-10 shooting while going 12-of-18 on free throws. Connor Robinson added 20 points connecting on 9-of-13 shots from the field. Barrett Burchyett was the final Blue Raider in double figures with 11 while Bryce Brown grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Golden Bears opened the game scoring six of the first eight points. Clinton led 15-10 before the Blue Raiders went on an 8-1 run to lead 18-16 with 11:35 to play in the first half. The Golden Bears then responded scoring the next six points. Lindsey Wilson then rattled off an 11-0 run to take a 29-22 lead with 7:29 to play in the half. Clinton then scored seven of the next nine points trimming the Blue Raider lead to 31-29. The Blue Raiders closed out the first half scoring five of the last seven points to lead 50-44.

Clinton trailed 59-52 before going on a 6-2 run to make it 61-58 with 14:54 to play. The Blue Raiders then rattled off a 12-2 run to increase their lead to 73-60 with 11:42 to play. Lindsey Wilson remained in control for the remainder of the game leading by no less than nine over the final 11 minutes and leading by as much as 16 points at 102-86 with 1:02 left.
