Basketball: LWC opens Bethel Classic with 78-53 victory

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Harris-Stowe State 78-53 on day one of the Bethel Classic Friday at Crisp Arena in McKenzie, TN.

The Blue Raiders (9-2) have now won their last five games. Lindsey Wilson shot 50.9 percent from the field while limiting the Hornets (2-4) to just 37.8 percent. This marks the fourth time this season that the Blue Raiders have shot 50 percent or better from the field. Lindsey Wilson also connected on 21-of-26 attempts from the charity stripe.

Amelia Hodges scored a season-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. The 75 percent from the field matched a season-high for Hodges. Lucy Patterson added 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting while Jarie Thomas was also in double figures with 10 points.

The Blue Raiders close out the Bethel Classic at NoonCT on Saturday when they face Bellevue (NE).
