State software upgrade will affect Adair Co. Clerk's Office

From Lisa Greer
Adair County Clerk

Kentucky will be implementing an upgrade to the system which processes all motor vehicle transactions in all of the County Clerks offices in the state, beginning at the close of business on December 29, 2023.

Customers who need to renew vehicles tags in December, or customers who have not renewed tags from any previous month for 2023, are urged to consider completing all transactions by December 29, 2023.

Important: Customers who are scheduled to renew in January 2024, unfortunately, cannot renew in December because the 2024 tax rates and assessments are not loaded until after the close of business on December 29, 2023.

The Adair County Clerk's motor vehicle department will make every attempt to open as soon as possible once we go live, but we are expecting to be closed for Motor Vehicle transactions from January 1 to January 16, 2024. During this closure, our recording and elections departments will be open. We will strive to keep everyone posted as we get updates and as changes occur.

We will be open regular hours in December/January except for the following:

  • Saturday, December 16, 2023: Open from 8amCT to 11amCT
  • Friday, December 15, 2023: Closing at 2:00
  • Monday, December 25, 2023: Closed for Christmas holiday
  • Tuesday, December 26, 2023: Closed for Christmas holiday
  • Friday, December 29, 2023: Opened regular hours 8amCT to 4pmCT
  • Saturday, December 30, 2023: Closed
  • Week of January 2, 2024: Open only for recording/elections
  • Saturday, January 6, 2024: Closed
  • Week of January 8, 2024: Open only for recording/elections
  • Saturday, January 13, 2024: Closed
  • Monday, January 15, 2024: Closed for Martin Luther King
  • Tuesday, January 16, 2024: Open all departments, regular hours
As always, we will be available for all questions. This system is completely new for Clerks' Offices in Kentucky; please bear with us as we strive to make these transactions as smooth as possible. It will help tremendously if you have your driver's license and insurance card available when we open back up for vehicles.
