LWC Bonner Scholars provide 52 warm coats for area children

More than 50 Adair County children will have a warmer winter thanks to the Lindsey Wilson College Bonner Scholars Program.

LWC Director of Civic Engagement and Student Leadership Kisha Burton and Bonner Scholar Coordinator Yayi Sonnabend led a donation effort this fall that collected 52 new winter coats for area children of low-income families. The coats were delivered to Adair County Head Start students and their siblings on Wednesday.

According to Burton, the LWC Bonner Scholars Coats For Kids program wouldn't be possible without the faithful generosity of the community and the College.

"It means so much to me to see this program continue and provide such an important resource for people who have the greatest need," said Burton who has served as Lindsey Wilson's director of civic engagement for two years. "Every year the community and the faculty and staff of LWC generously provide either a new coat or monetary support. I want to thank everyone who has made this project possible again."

The LWC Bonner Scholars Coats For Kids Drive began 12 years ago and has provided more than 700 children with new winter coats during that time.
