Basketball: 5 post double figures in LWC victory over Fisk The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Fisk (TN) 96-74 Monday at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders (6-2) had five score in double figures led by Janiya Davis who scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and also recorded seven rebounds. Amelia Hodges added 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, Taylor Guess scored 13 while Claire Fleming and Emily Cox added 11 and 10, respectively. Lindsey Wilson got off to a fast start in the first quarter scoring eight of the first 10 points. Following a Bulldogs (2-4) basket, the Blue Raiders scored the next four points to lead 12-4. Fisk had cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 12-6 before the Blue Raiders ended the first quarter on an 8-1 run. The Blue Raiders started the second quarter scoring eight of the first 11 points to take a 28-10 lead with 7:25 remaining in the half. Lindsey Wilson led 35-16 before Fisk went on a 7-2 run to trim its deficit to 37-23 with 1:26 left in the half. The Blue Raiders went into the locker room with a 46-25 lead after closing the first half on a 9-2 run. Lindsey Wilson got out to a 53-27 lead after a 7-2 run to begin the third quarter. The Blue Raiders extended their lead to as many as 28 in the third quarter leading 64-36 with 3:06 to play in the third. Lindsey Wilson led 68-45 going into the final 10 minutes. Fisk trailed 70-48 before going on a 9-0 run to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 13 with 6:29 to play. The Blue Raiders pushed their lead back to 19 points by going on a 6-0 run to lead 76-57. Both teams exchanged points the rest of the way as Lindsey Wilson got the 96-74 victory. The Blue Raiders are back in action at 6pmCT on Thursday when they host Berea at Biggers Sports Center.
