SNU at T.J. Samson Community Hospital recognized by USNWR From Stacey Biggs Glasgow, KY - The Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) at T.J. Samson Community Hospital has been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for short-term rehabilitation for 2024 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual Best Nursing Homes ratings, now in their 14th year, assist prospective residents and their families in making informed decisions in consultation with their medical professionals about where to receive short-term nursing home care. Only 19% of U.S. skilled nursing facilities earned the "Best Nursing Home" designation this year. Jamie Wilkerson, Chief Nursing Officer at T.J. Regional Health stated, "We are blessed to have the Skilled Nursing Unit at TJ Samson lead the way in excellence. Their successes strive from how the dedicated staff prioritizes individualized treatment by ensuring plans of care are specific to goals for discharge. SNU stands as a beacon of compassionate care for the community and watching all the departments involved is impressive." For 2024, U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes on care, safety, infection rates, staffing, and health inspections. Dr. William Thornbury, Medical Director for the Skilled Nursing Unit at T.J. Samson Community Hospital expressed, "It's a great honor to share that T.J. Samson's Skilled Nursing Unit is considered among the top facilities nationwide. This esteemed designation reflects the unwavering and commitment leadership of the entire team of dedicated professionals. Our superior rehabilitation and nursing teams and administrators all contribute collectively with tireless and exceptional work. These wonderful professionals are the cornerstone of our success and it is through their dedication that our health system is able to offer such outstanding care to the community. I would also like to thank Dr. Amelia Kiser, who previously served as Medical Director, for her dedication to the Skilled Nursing Unit. " The Best Nursing Homes methodology factors data such as resident care, safety, and outcomes. To calculate the Best Nursing Homes ratings, U.S. News evaluated each nursing home's performance using a variety of data obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The short-term rehabilitation rating also includes measures of a home's success in preventing falls, preventing serious infections, and making sure residents are able to return homes.
