Marie Popplewell Osborne, 91, Russell County, KY Letha Marie Popplewell Osborne, age 91, of Russell Springs, entered eternal life on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was the daughter of the late John Willie & Bessie Coffey Smith. She was a devoted Christian throughout her life and a long time member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist church, where she proudly served many years as song leader. She retired as Floor Supervisor from Fruit of the Loom, and spent her life working and serving others and being selflessly dedicated to her family and community. While working full time, she also spent years as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and helped manage the multiple ventures of the Popplewell Farm. She also loved singing karaoke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Desoto Popplewell, Jr. and their son, David Popplewell. Marie was blessed to later have another wonderful husband, Willard Osborne, who also preceded her, along with her two sisters, Frances Dunbar and Manice Smith Wilson and three brothers, Curtis, Carmel "Bill", and Curvan "Buster" Smith. Marie is survived by one son, Jerald (Marisa) Popplewell and two daughters, Sondra Valentine and Lila (Johnny) Cooper. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Bradley (Marina) Cooper, Jessica (Eric) Popplewell-Bumm, Jared (Leslie) Popplewell, Scarlett (Carl) Devine, Melissa Cooper, Israel (Shelby) Burton, Derek (Ariel) Popplewell, Mailee Cooper and Chase Cooper and 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend, Don Stamper. Her funeral will be at 2pmCT Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Richie Curtis and Bro. Don Finch officiating. Visitation will be open to the public beginning at 9:30amCT Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
