J.D. Bell, Russell County, KY (1937-2023) J.D. Bell was born December 24, 1937, in Jamestown, KY to the late Joe and Lucille (Brown) Bell, he passed away at his residence on Tuesday November 14. 2023 surrounded by his family. He retired from the Russell County Board of Education and the Fire Department and was a former member of the Russell County Rescue Squad. He took pride in coaching several little league sports. He was also a UK Wildcat and Russell County Laker fan. He was involved in the WJRS Food for the needy drive for over 30 years and was former superintendent of Temple Hill Community and Jamestown Community Church. He was a good Christian man and gave his life to the lord at an early age. J.D. was a loving husband, father, papaw, and friend that will be missed dearly by his family and community. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Shirley Bell and seven children Melinda (Tim) Sullivan, Marlene (Nick) Catron, Kem (Minga) Bell, Angie (Brian) Bell, Joey (Wanda) Bell, Melissa (Steve) Luttrell, and Chris (Whitney) Bell. Eleven grandchildren, Gina, Nikka, Shelby Lynn, Ravane, Shelby Brooke, Elijah, Hannah, Joshua, Madison, Scott, and one grandchild they helped raise Destin. Sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, eight siblings Janice, Christine, Rita, Eddie, Phillip, Andy, Roger and Kenneth, a special friend and neighbor Vernon Russell. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Daryl, great grandchild, and five siblings. Funeral Services will be held 11amCT on Saturday November 18, 2023 at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Leon Simpson and Bro. Nick Catron officiating. Friends may visit 5 to 8 on Friday. Burial will follow in the Jack Lawless Cemetery, Jamestown, KY.
