Soccer: LWC Men earn at-large bid to NAIA National Tournament

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 40-team field for the 2023 Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament on Monday afternoon, November 14, 2023, revealing the fourth-ranked Blue Raider men's soccer team as the host of a three-team first and second-round bracket.

The Blue Raiders will welcome (RV) Ottawa (KS) and Indiana Tech to Columbia. The Braves and the Warriors will match up at 3pmCT on Thursday, November 16 with the winner advancing to play Lindsey Wilson at 2pmCT on Saturday, November 18. Both matches will occur at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Ray Wells Field.

More information regarding this week's opening rounds of soccer will be released at a later date. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to lindseyathletics.com for all of the latest updates.

Lindsey Wilson is coming off a runner-up finish in the Mid-South Conference tournament and is one of four league schools to be selected for this year's national tournament, joining No. 16 Cumberlands (KY), No. 23 Cumberland (TN), and No. 25 Bethel (TN).

"Unfortunately, the conference tournament did not go our way," said senior goalkeeper Pablo Costa. "But we're ready and we have everything we need to go get a national championship." "I think everyone who comes to this point in the season is playing at their best and they're at their strongest point," noted head coach Sicelo Buthelezi after the announcement. "With Indiana Tech, we have played them before, but we've never played Ottawa before, so whichever team comes out of that it's going to be a good match-up."

"We have a good team and we're confident that everyone is going to be prepared and do their jobs," noted senior Rastko Dekic.
