Local History: Ivan Knifley found unusual fire alarm in Logan CO. Louise Spires says that when her brother, the late Ivan Knifley, became the basketball coach at Auburn, KY, back in the 1950s, he rented a large old house in the community. When he inspected the first closet, he found four firecrackers taped inside the door, As he went through the house, he found firecrackers taped to the walls in a similar fashion in most of the rooms in the house. Apparently, a previous owner or occupant used firecrackers as fire alarms. Has anybody else ever seen or heard of this use of firecrackers? Comments are welcome.
