ACSO: Mother dies in accident, two-year-old saved

On 10-5-2023 at 5:22pm Adair County 911 received multiple calls of a vehicle rollover around the 48 mile marker of the LBN Parkway.

Deputies Chandler Staten and Josh Durbin arrived on scene to find the operator had been ejected and was partially pinned underneath the vehicle. A 2 year old male juvenile was also located inside the vehicle restrained in car seat.

Due to the severity of collision, and safety concerns with traffic, Columbia Police Department responded to assist and shut down the parkway at the 49 mile marker.

Deputies along with the first initial responders and passing motorist who stopped was able to pick up on side of vehicle enough to free her from underneath it and EMS began life saving measures.


She was transported to TJ Health of Columbia where medical staff worked vigorously to try and stabilize her enough for ground transport to University of Kentucky Hospital. Air medical was unable to fly due to weather.

The child in the vehicle who was properly restrained in a properly fitted child restraint seat was treated and released with just a minor scratch on his forehead.

On 10-6-23, the following day, Sheriff Brockman was notified by Fayette County Coroner's Office that the operator in the collision had passed away at 6:02 pm.

Preliminary investigation shows that Amy McFall, age 24, of Columbia was traveling west on the parkway in a white 2002 Chevrolet suburban. McFall was traveling with her two year old son. McFall lost control of her vehicle and entered the grass median between east and west lanes of travel. McFall re-entered back into the roadway, however vehicle was in a slide as it came back onto roadway. The vehicle went into a rollover resulting in operator being ejected.

K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten is leading the accident investigation and he was assisted by Deputy Josh Durbin and Sheriff Brockman .

Agencies responding to collision were Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County EMS, Adair County 911, Adair County Emergency Management, Columbia Police Department, Columbia Adair County Fire Department and Kentucky State Police .

Adair County Sheriff's Office extends its prayers and sympathy to the family of Amy McFall. May God give you strength in these coming days as you deal with the loss of your loved one.
