New program allows Adair 911 Dispatchers to text or video chat From Chryslee Sherrill Deputy Director, Adair County E911 Center All of our dispatchers have been trained on a program called "RapidDeploy". This program allows us to better locate you in an emergency, and lets us text or video chat with you in case you accidentally call 911, can not talk on the phone after calling 911, or need to show us something going on that is hard to describe. While you cannot start the conversation by texting 911 first, we can send you a message or a request for video chat after a 911 call is received. You would not be able to hear or see the dispatchers in the video chat, but we can hear and see you. An example of a text message you would get would be from a generated number such as (364) 204-9110 (it will not be that number every time) stating "This is Adair County 911. We received a hangup call from this number. We show you to be near the 911 Center on North High St. Is everything okay?" One can reply back to that number and we would get your response. An example of a text message you would get requesting a video chat would be from the same generated number and it would state "Please select the following link on your mobile device to share your video with your 911 center...." After clicking the following link, you would go through the following prompts and it would allow us to see and hear you through video chat. If anybody has any questions about the program, you can call our non-emergency number at 270-384-6464. This story was posted on 2023-05-26 13:28:44
