CFR: Drowning at Green River Lake Site 1

On Monday, May 22, 2023, at 5:44pmET, Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a report of a vehicle in the water with confirmed entrapment at Green River Lake Site 1. Upon arrival, a special operations diver performed a bounce dive, locating the vehicle approximately 50 feet from the shore and in 12 feet of water.

The diver was able to was able to remove the victim from the driver's side door and brought him to shore. CTCEMS initiated advanced life support procedures, but the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries at Taylor Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

A special operations diver then performed a secondary search of the vehicle and rigged the vehicle for removal for the wrecker service. No firefighter or any other civilian injuries were reported.
