Taylor Co. Schools awarded $8K grant to expand adult education Campbellsville, KY - Taylor County Board of Education is a 2023 Adult Literacy grant award recipient. The board of education has been awarded an $8,000 grant award from Dollar General Literacy Foundation to enhance adult learning opportunities in our community. The grant will be used to build stronger more literate families by expanding access to evening adult learning classes. "These classes are important for our families who need and want access to literacy opportunities, but who work or care for children during the day", said Suzanne Grubesic, grant writer for Taylor County. The country district has been in partnership with Kentucky Adult Education for 1 year, and the agency opened a new location inside the Central Kentucky Career Academy, located on Old Lebanon Rd. When speaking about the goals of this partnership, Superintendent of Taylor County Schools, Charles Higdon, said, "We will to continue to find ways to better serve all the needs of our students. When families are becoming more literate and furthering their education, we are creating healthier, more stable homes for our students." For information about classes and course offerings, interested parties should contact KY Adult Education representative, Jennifer Willis at 270-465-7736 or 270-403-1248. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants across the nation, on an annual basis, to recipients who demonstrate capacity and innovative ideas geared toward increasing literacy potential in their communities.
