SS Founder's Day celebration enjoyed by all Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce The 6th Annual Founder's Day celebration in Summer Shade was enjoyed by families, friends and neighbors with live music, great food, crafts, games for the young, and old all day. It was a beautiful morning in the Shade as eye catching trucks, cars, tractors, and ATV'S lined up on Cemetery Road to be in this year's parade. Thank you goes out to the Metcalfe County Sheriff's Office for graciously escorting the parade through downtown Summer Shade. The DAV led the parade, followed by the National Guard, Metcalfe County Band. The outgoing 2022 Honorary Mayor of Summer Shade, Ron Underwood, announced election of this year’s winner - the 2023 Honorary Summer Shade Mayor is Tommy McMurtrey. Clay Turner transported the Honorary Mayor and the big Founder's Day Bear in his famous 1972 red convertible Volkswagen. A special thank you to everyone in the parade and to all those who helped plan this year's parade, it was great! This story was posted on 2023-05-15 08:48:21
