Football: Blue Raiders announce 2023 schedule

Two years to the day of the program's first NAIA national championship, head coach Phil Kleckler has unveiled the 2023 Lindsey Wilson football schedule.

The Blue Raiders will face a 10-game gauntlet comprised of four non-conference foes and six other opponents from within the Mid-South Conference. It all begins on September 2, 2023, in Scotland County, North Carolina, where the locals will open their campaign against the Knights of St. Andrews University.

Lindsey Wilson's home opener will take place the following weekend at Parnell Family Stadium when defending national runner-up Keiser University (FL) visits Columbia for the fourth time in four seasons.

Then, on September 16, Point University (Ga.) ventures north for its first trip to see the Blue Raiders since 2019 and only the second time ever.

The non-league slate concludes in Virginia on September 23 when Lindsey Wilson challenges Bluefield University. Against their 2023 non-conference opponents all-time, the Blue Raiders are 12-0, including a 57-6 triumph over St. Andrews last August.

Mid-South football opens at home versus Faulkner University (Ala.) on September 30 as the locals will look to extend their conference-home-opening win-streak to six games. The match-up with the Eagles will also highlight Lindsey Wilson College's Homecoming Week. Then, following a week off, comes the highly anticipated "Battle of Highway 55" in Campbellsville on October 14.

Following the matchup with Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson hosts University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and travels to Georgetown College (Ky.) in back-to-back weeks for the first time in three years. Afterward, the regular season wraps up with Cumberland University (Tenn.) in Columbia and Bethel University (Tenn.) in McKenzie.

Lindsey Wilson is 44-19 all-time versus its 2023 conference rivals, including a 12-2 mark against its home opponents at home and a 13-7 showing against its road opponents on the road.

The Blue Raiders finished the 2022 season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinals before ultimately falling to No. 2 Grand View University (Iowa), 10-7.

Lindsey Wilson will enter the 2023 season on a tear of 116 consecutive weeks ranked in the NAIA Coaches Poll. The locals were seated as high as No. 3 last year and were ranked at No. 8 in the final poll before the NAIA FCS.

Season tickets and parking passes will be available later this summer from the Lindsey Wilson athletics department.
