James N. (Jimmy) McGowan, 78, Columbia, KY (1944-2023) James Neal "Jimmy" McGowan of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. John Davis and Bro. Adam Shepard officiating. Burial will follow in the Cane Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Saturday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Columbia, KY on August 25, 1944, to the late J. C. and Frances Moss McGowan. Jimmy was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and an avid fisherman. The loves of his life were his wife of 52 years, his children, and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Marilyn Revis McGowan of Columbia; two children Cortney Neal Mooney (Charles) of Columbia, KY, and Kyle Grant McGowan (Lindsay) of Jeffersonville, IN; six grandchildren Colby Cowan (Charity), Katelyn Cowan, Case Cowan, Clay Mooney, Molly McGowan, and Sebastian Farmer; two great grandchildren Cora and Layne Cowan and several other friends and relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Frankie McGowan and a sister Beverly Lane. Pallbearers will be Larry Bryant, Russ Corby, Richard Phelps, Robbie Collier, John Revis, and Allen Helm. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Edwards, Charles Curry, Charles England, Henry Sandusky, Jerry Compton, Kenny Davis, Ronnie Mitchell, Tommy Grider, John Hancock, and Joe Lynn Barbee.
