Track and Field: LWC heading to Cardinal Invitational

Lindsey Wilson track and field will end its April tour and regular season campaign at the University of Louisville for the Clark Wood Invitational before getting underway with conference championships next week. The invitational is a two-day meet that is set to start on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10amCT with the women's hammer throw.

LWC recently competed at the EKU Rick Erdmann Twilight this past weekend where nine Blue Raiders placed in the top-three in their respective events with three athletes earning a NAIA "B" standard performance.

The Blue Raider men's 4x100 relay team set the meet record with a time of 41.90 seconds after breaking the previous record of 43.22, achieved by Miami University (Ohio) back in 2021.

Two-time Mid-South Conference men's field athlete of the week, Austin Campbell, was one of the three Blue Raiders to earn a "B" standard at the Rick Erdmann Twilight after a 15.37 meter shot put toss. He also made the podium in the discus and hammer throw. Sophomore Edwin Van Wyk earned himself a standard performance as well in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.41 seconds.

Jozlen Brisbon for the women's team is coming off a season-best 11.98 in the 100-meter dash that earned her "B" standard honors. Nikki Ravelli dominated the javelin throw once again for the fourth time this year with a meet best 37.11 meter throw. Meredith Johnson also looks to improve up the ranks after finishing third in the 1500-meter run.

The Blue Raiders will look ahead to the Clark Wood Invitational hoping to secure a few team accolades along with more NAIA standard performances heading into conference championships next week.

Live results to the invitational will be available.
