Tennis: LWC Men fall to Cumberlands in MSC Tournament finals Bowling Green, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team saw its Mid-South Conference tournament journey end in the finals at the hands of top-seeded Cumberlands (KY), 4-0, at the Warren County Tennis and Sports Facility on Sunday, April 23, 2023. In the doubles matches, The Blue Raiders collected the first win of the day as Santiago Diaz and Firas Ben Chouikha (7-3) defeated Mattis Le Montagner and Quentin Villetorte, 6-4, leading into the Patriots taking the final two doubles matches with Hung Ju Wu and Martin Muller downing Ilyas Kouchairi and Anatoliy Voloshyn, in their first paring of the season, 6-2. Cumberlands took the doubles point when Christian de la Fuente Nodado and Chiang Chia Chung defeated Jan Silhavy and Lucas Marques, 6-3. In singles play, de La Fuente notched a victory over Voloshyn (6-5), 6-0, 4-1, and retired as Voloshyn could not continue in the match. Killian Surmont then defeated Diaz (3-6), 6-1, 6-1, putting the Patriots one point away from clinching the title. Cumberlands would do just that, as No. 21-ranked Le Montagner downed Ben Chouikha (6-8), 6-0, 7-5, to capture the MSC Title. The remaining matches in No. 34-ranked Martin Muller versus No. 15-ranked Jan Silhavy went unfinished at, 3-6, 3-3, as the match between Ju Wu and Kouchairi also went unfinished at 6-4, 2-2. The No. 6 match between Lucas Augotr and Lucas Marques was 5-7, 2-2 in the Blue Raiders' favor when the match was called. Lindsey Wilson now waits to see if they will receive an at-large bid for the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship tournament, unfolding from May 16 to 20 at Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
