Giddian Alexander House restoration in Waterview

By Linda Waggener

In past photos and stories on Columbia Magazine, we've referred to a beautiful home between Burkesville and Marrowbone, KY as the Sewell House, a century old Victorian mansion at Waterview in Cumberland County.

New owner Frank Gascar, however, during his restoration work in progress, uncovered history. He now has a plaque hanging in the home naming it "The Giddian Alexander House", built in 1905.

The enchanting home is being restored into a place where people can stay in one of the rooms that are being named for area folks who known to have helped others: Kathy, Beulah, Dana, and Ann (the honeymoon suite).

The home is located between KY 90 and KY 100 in the small village of Waterview, KY. From Columbia, take KY 61 toward Burkesville, KY; from there go west on KY 90 about six miles to Waterview, KY.
