Student art on display at Trabue Russell House

The area Student Art Show opened last weekend at the historic Trabue-Russell House in Columbia and will be open again on Saturday and Sunday, March 25 and 26, 2023. Hours are from 1 to 3pmCT.

The event is funded by the Jim Blair Memorial Fund which is administered by the City of Columbia and sponsored by the Trabue-Russell House Board. For more information call City Hall, 270-384-2105.

Student's art work on display at Trabue Russell House

Callie Jo Compton, holding little niece Ava Grace, shares her watercolor artwork at top right which is part of the Student Art Show at the Trabue Russell House. She is in eighth grade at Adair County Middle School. The assignment is in the category of Neurographic Art which "promotes mindfulness and intentionality at a slower pace." The description card among the works reads, "To get started: 1. Dim lights and play relaxing music; 2. Focus on a feeling; 3. Draw a line, doodle, or scribble in 5 to 10 seconds; 4. Examine the intersections of lines, and make connections by rounding off corners; 5. Continue adding shapes and lines; 6. Continue to round off corners and 7. Finish with medium of choice."

Adair County Schools art on display this weekend

Epicurean Kentuckian: food art by Brynlee

On display at the Student Art Show at the Trabue Russell House is this toilet paper food sculpture display created by Brynlee Funkhouser, seventh grade student at Adair County Middle School. She served up a burger with a side of fries and dessert. People had to take a second look to make sure it was fake!

Desiree's art is part of weaving display

This weaving art work which is part of the Student Art Exhibit at the Trabue Russell House is done in yarn by Desiree Lachowicz, sixth grade at Adair County Middle School. Artists Arabella and Aarow with family at student art show

Little artists Arabella and her older brother Aarow both have artwork on display in the Student Art Show that opened last weekend at the historic Trabue-Russell House in Columbia. Lucca, riding on dad's shoulders, will have works in future shows, no doubt. They are the home school students of Orissa and Nick Woodward of the Fairplay community.

Wave at Student Art Show

This water color didn't have a name beside it so the imagination is free to zoom in, see the wave over a lemon slice, ice cube, little umbrella, and create the story. It is among the many art examples in the Student Art Show open again this coming weekend from 1-3pmCT at the Trabue Russell House. The work is by Sophia Caceres, 11th grader at ACHS.

Izzy finds her work on display in the art show

Izzy's work is in Tempera Stix. She is pictured with her mom Brittany Burton at the Student Art Show on display at the Trabue Russell House again this weekend. Izzy is a third grader. The museum is filled to overflowing with works of students from the Adair School District and Homeschools and guest students from neighboring counties. It is open to all.

Paper Snail Quilt on display at Student Art Show

Adair County Primary Center First Graders created this Snails Paper Quilt hanging on the old wooden door in the historic Trabue Russell House which is filled with works of students. Adair County Arts Council President Anne Bird appreciated all the works in the Student Art Show including this one, and said the slow little snail takes time for little artists to create.

The Trabue Room
