Tennis: LWC Women notch 1st conference win vs Cumberland Lebanon, TN - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team was victorious over Cumberland (TN), 5-2, in their Mid-South Conference opener on Wednesday at Tommy Gray Memorial Tennis Courts. In the doubles matches, the No. 19-ranked duo of Darija Mladenovic and Anastasiia Ivanchenko downed Lara Zugasti and Elina Sungatullina, 6-3. Reshma Challarapu and Parisa Rachdanone then toppled Juanita Mendez and Carlee Teague, 6-4, giving the Blue Raiders the doubles point. The match between Heyka Rodriguez and Mayra Gisone versus Maria Arbelaez and Jessica Hernandez went unfinished at 4-6 as the Blue Raiders had already secured the point. In the singles matches, Rodriguez defeated Alexandra Leisibach, 6-2, 6-1, leading to Gisone downing Zugasti, 7-5, 6-0. The Phoenix then got a point back as Arbelaez defeated Ivanchenko 6-3, 6-2. Rachdanone then defeated J. Mendez, 6-1, 6-4, giving Lindsey Wilson the victory based on points. The two squads went on to finish the rest of the matches as No. 50-ranked Darija Mladenovic defeated Sungatullina, 6-1, 6-4, as No. 32-ranked Hernandez downed Salome Sposetti 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8), finishing the match 5-2 in the favor of the Blue Raiders.
