Baseball: LWC hosts midweek contest against IU Southeast The Lindsey Wilson baseball team welcomes No. 18-ranked Indiana University Southeast to Egnew Park on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. This midweek contest is slated to begin at 1pmCT. The Blue Raiders (8-5, 1-2 MSC) will face their second-straight ranked opponent, after dropping a highly competitive series to No. 15 Cumberlands last weekend. Lindsey Wilson won game one in that series 5-4 behind solid pitching. On the mound, Cohen Achen recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts which moved him up to seventh all-time in career strikeouts (168) in program history. Cade Duncan earned the save, which lifted him to second all-time in career saves (9) in program history. Offensively, Matthew Schultz and Chance Stayton both recorded five hits to lead the Blue Raiders last weekend, while Jordan Blick and Austin Rayno both earned four RBIs to lead the team. Indiana Southeast is 3-8 on the season, with all eight losses coming against teams either ranked in the NAIA Top-25 Poll or receiving votes. Last weekend, the Grenadiers swept a doubleheader with Huntington on Friday and split a pair with No. 22 Northwestern Ohio on Sunday. On the season, Brayden Hazelwood leads the Grenadiers in hits (15), walks (8), and records the highest batting average on the team with at least ten at-bats (.405). Three Grenadier pitchers have pitched 13+ innings on the season and four have double-digit strikeouts. These two squads faced off twice last season, splitting a pair.
