Ellen Rose Murphy, age 83, Casey County, KY (1940-2023) Ellen Rose Murphy, age 83, of Liberty, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 5th surrounded by her closest family. Born January 19, 1940, Rose was a former employee of Liberty Sportswear, but most knew her by her many years of devotion to children in the Casey County school system where she served as a Kindergarten teachers assistant at both Douglas Elementary and Walnut Hill elementary. "Mrs. Rose" as her students called her, was never too busy, too tired or too distracted to give a little extra help and love to the students who needed it most. Once retired, Rose spent much of her time traveling with her sisters, Ann Lynn, Nancy Durham, Jeanie Murphy, Tommye Allen and her many, many girlfriends. From Gatlinburg to Branson, Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. she loved seeing the beauty of our nation and she felt the most joy on the white sand beaches of Florida. Rose is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ernest Murphy and her parents Tom and Oba Davis. In addition to her sisters, Rose is survived by her daughter Jennifer, her husband Chris Godbey of Liberty, KY, their daughters Emily (Jason) Fox and Natalie (Charlie) Fox and her son Jeff Murphy of Liberty, KY and his daughters Eryn Murphy and Katie (Joe) Duffy. Along with six great-grand children, Stella, Vivian, Stanley, Boone T., McCauley and Clara Rose. And many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Visitation will be held from 6-8pmET Wednesday February 8th, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11am Thursday with Rev. Jason Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. This story was posted on 2023-02-07 19:30:38
