Linnie Wright, 104, Liberty, KY (1918-2023)

Linnie (Sapp) Wright of Liberty passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Casey County Hospital. She was 104 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 2pmET on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Larry Cochran and Bro. Gary Lavender officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5pmET to 8pmET on Saturday, January 21, 2023, and from 9amET until 2pmET on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.


Born on December 4, 1918, she was a daughter of the late John Quincy and Lillie Savannah Rich Sapp. Linnie was founder and owner of Wright Implement, formerly ran a grocery store, and was also a homemaker. Linnie was truly the matriarch of her family.

She is survived by a son, Ronald (Pauline) Wright of Liberty; three daughters, Juanita (the late Wendell) Delp of Liberty, Frieda Verona (the late Ronnie) Atwood of Mt. Washington, and Deborah (Eddie) Wesley of Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Mabel Wright; a brother, Lloyd Sapp of Louisville; and a sister, Roseanna Adams of Pellyton. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, Cheri (Shannon) White, Karen (Jim) Ellison, Keith (Nannette) Wright, Vicki (Dean) Huff, Brent (Belinda) Atwood, Brian (Nikki) Wright, Tracie (Todd) Hoskins, Jonathan (Kristy) Wilkerson, Jamie (Kara) Wilkerson, and Alex (Kristy) Wesley; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Wright, who passed away on December 14, 1989; two sons, Russell O. Wright and Murrell Quincy Wright; an infant daughter; three brothers, Ernie S. Sapp, Benjamin Wilburn Sapp, and William Arnold Sapp; and two sisters, Biner Marie Hayes and Verlene Sapp Adams.

The family wishes to thank four special caretakers for their dedication to Mrs. Wright: Teresa Burton, Yvette McQueary, Peggy Rich, and Jan Coleman.

Pallbearers will be Keith Wright, Brent Atwood, Brian Wright, Jonathan Wilkerson, Jamie Wilkerson, and Shannon White.
