George Salem Jones, 83, Green Co., KY (1939-2023) George Salem Jones of Green County departed this life on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home. He was 83 years old. Graveside services for George Salem Jones will be held at 3pmCT on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Macedonia Cemetery. with Bro. Russ Hamm and Bro. Earnest Durden officiating. George Salem Jones, son of the late William F. Jones and Joan Turran Jones, was born on Friday, April 21, 1939 in Washington, D.C. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Sure Foundation Baptist Church. He was a maintenance grounds contractor, and a Bluegrass musician. Mr. Jones was also a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army from August 1962 until August 1964. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Garnetta Pearl Cox Jones of Green County, having united in marriage on July 28, 1965. Other survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: George Christopher Jones of Green County, and William W. and Betty Jones of Florida; four grandchildren: Dakota Jones of Green County, William Jones, II, Amber Jones, and Amanda Jones all of Florida; two great-grandchildren: Willow Jones and William Jones, III both of Florida; a brother: William Jones of Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by a grandson: Dallas Jones. Pallbearers: Family and Friends Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
