Threat for isolated strong/severe storms and localized flooding

A strong storm system will bring multiple rounds of showers and occasional thunderstorms to the region this week. Much of this activity will start tonight, Monday, January 2, 2022, and continue through early Wednesday, January 4, 2022. There will be breaks in the rain/storms during this timeframe.

There is a threat for isolated strong to severe storms, as well as a chance of localized flooding.

Projected rainfall through Wednesday morning

The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY, is predicting widespread 1" to 2.5" rainfall over the next couple of days, with locally higher amounts possibile. Localized/Nuisance flooding will be possible. Highest rainfall amounts are expected west of Interstate 65, with relatively lower amounts across eastern Kentucky.
