Artists from Adair represented at Art Educators meeting

Adair County Schools were represented in two days of professional development recently for art teachers, a student art show, and a teacher art show. This was the annual Kentucky Art Educators meeting where ACHS art director Cayce Davenport is a board member. It was held at Northern Kentucky University.

Lash Davenport placed first in his category of the student show. Cayce placed second in sculpture and third in drawing. She also was selected to present a session on maintaining a creative practice for working artists.

She discovered Columbia friends pictured on the NKU Art Gallery wall when she looked up and saw the women of Moore's Pool Room featured in the Kentucky Documentary Photographic Project.

In addition to her school responsibilities, Cayce is in demand as a mural painter. She is currently working on a mural for downtown Columbia business Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home's new building across from the Adair Genealogy and History Center on Greensburg Street.
