Doris Katheryn Shuffett, 75, Campbellsville, KY (1947-2022)

Our beloved mom and nana, Doris Katheryn Shuffett, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. She was 75 years old.

Her family will celebrate her life on Monday, November 28, 2022, in a private family service at Memorial Gardens in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Kathy was born on July 31, 1947, to Guy and Allene Dohoney in Campbellsville, Ky. Kathy grew up in Campbellsville and graduated from Campbellsville High School in 1965. After she married, Kathy moved to Greensburg where she raised her children and spent most of her adult life. At the age of 40, Kathy went back to college and received her bachelor's degree in social work from Lindsey Wilson and her masters in counseling from Western Ky University. Kathy spent 20 years as a mental health therapist with Adanta, where one of her favorite roles was as the Director of the Adult Daycare in Greensburg, Ky.

Kathy was a sweet mother and kind soul, and those who knew her loved her. She was known for her quick wit and great listening skills which made her so easy and fun to talk to. This sweet-tempered spirit and sense of humor served her well in her career as a therapist, Kathy was creative and artistic and shared this love of crafting with her daughters. She loved her garden and her flowers. Besides her children and grandchildren, she was most proud of her flower gardens at her home on Gabe Road in Summersville. She was an avid reader, she cheered on her UK Wildcats, and loved her dogs, Chester, Tank, Sassy Bell, and Charlie Max.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Guy Childress and Cassie Allene Dohoney as well as her beloved sister Barbara Sue Vaughn. She is survived by 3 children: Laura (and Ron) Benningfield, Melane (and Doug) Hall, and Brad (and Donna) Shuffett, all of Campbellsville; 5 grandchildren: Jilly Benningfield, Chloe Benningfield, Lanie (and Chris) Montgomery, Grady Shuffett, and Nadia Shuffett, one step-grandchild, Keisha Riggs; one nephew Mark Vaughn of Bowling Green; and her brother-in-law Mickey Vaughn of Greensburg.
